Description & Services
Trail Rating | Easy for walkers and OHV users. Hybrid bicycle tires required for cyclists. Horses can use with some caution especially at bridges under construction. |
Information | The Woodland Multi-use Trail Association is a group of volunteers in partnership with the Shelburne County All Terrain Vehicle Association committed to the creation and management of a multi-use shared trail system in Shelburne County for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and to foster tourism through an appreciation of our natural environment and cultural heritage.
WMTA have worked on this vision as follows:
WMTA have built, operated and now maintain and manage over 72 kilometers of shared multi use trail across Shelburne County.
There are 19.6 km of interconnected shared multi use trail in eastern Shelburne County to the Queen's County line at Wilkins Lake to join the Queen's County trail system into Port Mouton and Summerville Beach Provincial Park. This trail includes and starts with 10 kms of trail between Canada Hill Road in Allendale (outside of Lockeport) and goes to Hwy 3 in Sable River through the beautiful Sable wetland that connects with the Tom Tigney Trail (1.2 km Municipality of Shelburne trail) at one end and joins our 8.4 km Tom Tigney Wilderness Trail from Hwy 103 in Sable River (near km 117 at the East Sable River Road intersection). WMTA currently (Nov 2017) has a further 15 km of trail under construction from the Canada Hill Road in Allendale to Camp Jordan in East Jordan. This 15 kilometers is passable only to hikers and OHVs. It connects to the 2.6 km multi use (non motorized) Jordan River Trail operated by the Municipality of Shelburne. From the western end of the Jordan River Trail there is undeveloped rail bed into Shelburne Town. All these trail sections combine to connect the Town of Shelburne to Queens County to the east.
