Information

Seven Cottages and 73 Campsites to Choose From!

It's a pleasant drive down the Clyde River Road. The river, on the right, like the tree-lined, country road, twists and turns at every bend. In the fall, the hardwood trees along the the riverbank are a burst of color.

There are seven one and two bedroom cottages nestled among the hardwood trees (four two-bedroom and three one-bedroom), each on their own lot for added privacy, and given a name corresponding to the type of trees nearby - Birch Cottage, Maple Cottage, Pine Cottage, etc. Each 'full housekeeping cottage' is meticulously clean and has everything you need for a family vacation including bedding, towels, pots and pans, dishes, dish detergent, salt, pepper, sugar, cutlery, coffeemaker and even coffee and tea (provided FREE to our guests)for one night. Each cottage is fully insulated and electrically heated and comes complete with modern appliances (including microwave, full stove and fridge), satellite TV, clock radio, DVD player (movie rental), blow dryers, games, books, an outdoor fireplace, picnic tables, (you can buy firewood &rent BBQ's at the store).

A laundry room is on site. We also operate a small convenience store on site for those everyday necessities your family just can't live without -ice, milk, bread, etc. Also in the office there's excess to the internet, phone or fax. We are licensed to sell liquor to our guests only. Two bedroom cottages sleep up to six and one bedroom cottages sleep up to four guests comfortably. Double, queen and twin beds available.

We also have our 73 campsites with seasonals and some extra full hookups for overnighters or unserviced sites, wooded & opened and well spaced. Our customers suggest our facility is one of the best campgrounds and camping destinations in the province and one of the great places to stay in Nova Scotia.

So if you are wondering where to stay in Atlantic Canada, consider Clyde River Cottages and Campground. Come and enjoy our quiet setting among the hardwood trees, browse around the grounds and enjoy a walk along our river trail or, have a picnic. We have washer tournaments for those that are interested. There are many playgrounds to explore, and a heated in-ground swimming pool to keep the kids content for hours. Some of the children's events are frog hunting . Look for events on holidays such as Canada Day and Labour Day at our gazebo. There's a canteen for those that don't want to cook on weekends and Bingo and Darts on weekends.

Birding enthusiasts will love the opportunity to count and record common and often rare species of birds - right on the premises! There are spruce and ruffed grouse, downy and hairy woodpeckers, flickers, yellow warblers, chipping sparrows, dark-eyed juncos and purple finches just to mention a few. And for the more serious birders, Shelburne County offers eight of the most spectacular birding destinations in the province - all just a short drive from Clyde River Cottages& Campground.

Not to be outdone, golfers can 'practice their sport' any day of the week at the nearby River Hills Golf and Country Club, opened up to the end of October. Only 15 minutes from Clyde River Cottages and Campground. The picturesque, 18-hole course can be a challenge to even the most experienced of golfers.

And there are many other things to do as well. There are the historic towns of Barrington and Shelburne to visit, fishing villages to photograph, craft shops and beaches to explore, museums to browse, and plenty of time to just sit back... and relax
