| Information | Health Promotion/Education Services Diabetes Education Program This program helps people recognize the signs and symptoms to determine if they, or someone they know, might have diabetes. Education on diabetes management is offered in a relaxed setting, and offers information on the treatment and management of diabetes, including how it's treated, meal planning, the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy weight, and preventing possible complications. Wellness and Health-Promotion Clinics Held in public places such as pharmacies or community events, VON Wellness and Health Promotion clinics offer clients screening tests and assessment of cholesterol, blood pressure, body-mass index and other indicators of potential health problems. Individual counselling focuses on education and raising awareness on topics such as heart health, diabetes, asthma, allergies and osteoporosis. Workplace Wellness Clinics Offered either as half-day or "lunch and learn" sessions, these clinics take screening, counselling and health education to the workplace. They can be tailored to the health need of organizations, and include topics such as smoking cessation, women's health, stress management, healthy eating and physical activity. |
